A proposed child care center at 2630 Village Road seeks permission for a playground smaller than Dearborn’s zoning code requires.
The Zoning Board of Appeals is scheduled to consider the request at a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, in the City Council Chambers at the Dearborn Administrative Center, 16901 Michigan Ave., according to the board’s hearing notice.
Ali Khalaf, representing 2630 Village LLC, is requesting a reduction in the required playground area from 3,400 square feet to 2,016 square feet — a difference of 1,384 square feet.
The request is listed as Appeal 26-122 under Section 7.02 G 2 of the zoning ordinance. The property is in the RA One-Family Residential district on the west side of Village Road, between Outer Drive and the intersection with Rotunda Drive and Donaldson Street.
The notice does not explain why the applicant is seeking the reduction.
Planning Commission review
The Planning Commission is separately scheduled to consider special land use and site plan approval for the center at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, at the Dearborn Administrative Center.
That request is listed as Case 26-24 in the commission’s meeting notice. Neither notice reports an approval of the proposal.
