Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed spoke at a UAW union hall in Dearborn on Friday, Oct. 30, with several local elected officials sharing the stage.

Mayor Abdullah Hammoud, Wayne County Commissioner Sam Baydoun, state Rep. Alabas Farhat and school board member Adel Mozip appeared on stage with El-Sayed, Niraj Warikoo reported on X. The appearance came four days before Tuesday’s general election.

Warikoo also reported that El-Sayed attended Friday prayers Oct. 30 at the Islamic Center of America on Ford Road.

The UAW hall event followed earlier organizing for El-Sayed in the Dearborn area. A Sept. 20 fundraiser at the Bint Jebail Cultural Center raised roughly $350,000, exceeding its $250,000 goal, The Arab American News reported.

Hammoud helped organize that event alongside Wayne County Deputy Executive Assad Turfe, Dearborn Heights Mayor Mo Baydoun and others, according to the publication.

The UAW endorsed El-Sayed early in the Senate race, according to the union’s website. The Michigan AFL-CIO also endorsed him, according to an Aug. 20 campaign announcement.

El-Sayed faces Republican Mike Rogers in the Nov. 3 general election.
