A Dearborn Heights resident died Thursday, Nov. 5, following a single-vehicle crash near Monroe Street and Beech Street in Dearborn.

Dearborn police officers on patrol came across the crash scene about 8:23 a.m., according to the city’s police announcement. The department’s preliminary investigation found that the driver lost control, and speed may have been a contributing factor, police said.

Dearborn Fire and Rescue transported the driver to a local hospital, where the driver was pronounced dead.

“This is a terrible tragedy, and we extend our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim,” Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said in the announcement.

Police identified the victim as a Dearborn Heights resident but did not release the person’s name. The investigation is ongoing.
